Take all of these factors into account and even have a friend help you set the price as he or she will be able to offer a more objective viewpoint of your vehicle.

When a Buyer first sees your vehicle, you want him or her to be impressed. First impressions are important when it comes to selling your car so you want your vehicle to look shiny and new when you show it to the Buyer. Get your car detailed – this should cost anywhere between $75-$100 and it is well worth the money spent as the Buyer will be much more impressed with a clean car. Make sure you remove any excess objects from your car, including those in the trunk. You may want to have a friend take your vehicle out for a test drive since he or she will have more objective eyes and ears towards your car and will be able to tell you if there is anything you haven’t noticed about your car.

There are several things you are responsible for as a Seller. Upon completing the sale of a vehicle, the state of Colorado requires that you give the Buyer the Colorado Certificate of Title (you MUST have one to complete a sale – if you have lost it, you must first obtain a duplicate from your county’s registration office) and a bill of sale (you should keep a copy of this for yourself). You may download and print a bill of sale off the Department of Motor Vehicles website. If the vehicle is ten years old or less, you must give an odometer reading.

Also, if the Buyer lives in an emissions region, the Seller must supply an up-to-date inspection certificate.
